trauma-informed counseling based in houston, texas

A space to be seen, heard, and supported

through life’s most difficult experiences

you are more than a symptom to solve

you may be here because

You may be...
Bracing for the next conflict, or walking on eggshells in relationships that used to feel safe

Worn down by complicated family dynamics, legal stress, or communication that never feels straightforward

Grieving estrangement, or a relationship you trusted that's changed in ways you didn't choose

Carrying grief, betrayal, or exhaustion that's hard for other people to fully understand

Questioning your own instincts after being criticized, manipulated, or made to feel like the problem

Looking capable and put-together on the outside while quietly feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or depleted

Life may look manageable on the outside, but internally it feels like you are carrying far more than anyone realizes.

there is life beyond survival

You’ve learned how to keep going.

Here, we can begin with what is true for you.

You may have become exceptionally good at functioning in circumstances that ask too much of you.

You anticipate. You accommodate. You keep records. You manage everyone’s reactions. You protect your children. You replay conversations. You prepare for what might happen next.

And somewhere in the middle of managing everything around you, it can become difficult to hear yourself.

What do you think?
What do you need?
What feels safe to you?
What are you allowed to put down?

Therapy can offer a place where you no longer have to perform being okay, defend the reality of what you experienced, or make your story easier for someone else to understand.

But to keep going and feeling okay are not the same thing.

Your feelings aren’t problems to be fixed.

Anxiety, hypervigilance, perfectionism, self-doubt, shutting down, over-functioning, difficulty trusting, or constantly preparing for conflict can make far more sense when we consider the relationships, experiences, environments, and histories surrounding them.

At Feeling Blue Therapy, we won’t isolate one symptom and ask how to make it disappear as quickly as possible.

We’ll get curious about the whole person carrying it.

Together, we can explore what happened, what helped you survive it, what still belongs to you, and what you may finally be ready to stop carrying.

The ways we cope do not develop in isolation.

They’re part of a story worth understanding.

Relationship issues, Attachment wounds, High-conflict divorce & post separation abuse, parental alienation, anxiety & depression, religious trauma

support for experiences that rarely fit neatly into a box

Some sessions may begin with something very specific. Others may begin with, “I don’t even know what I want to talk about today.”

Both are welcome.

Over time, our regular sessions create space to notice patterns, explore what has shaped you, listen to what your feelings may be communicating, and deepen your connection to your own voice, needs, and agency.

There's more to your life than surviving it.

hi, i'm paola!

Before I ever sat in the therapist’s chair, I sat in the client’s.

I’d been to counseling before without finding much relief. Then I met a therapist whose care felt different. He moved toward my pain instead of away from it. He made space for the parts of my story I’d learned to keep quiet, and for maybe the first time, I felt seen, understood, and safe enough to let someone else hold those tender parts with me.

That relationship changed the way I understood therapy.

And ultimately, it’s why I became a therapist myself.
